Inkubito z’icyeza: Education of future parents

It was this Saturday, May 24, 2025, during the 20th anniversary of the campaign to promote girls’ education “Inkubito z’icyeza.” The ceremonies took place in Rusororo in the Gasabo district, Kigali city. On this occasion, 123 girls with the best performances were rewarded.
The First Lady of Rwanda stressed that the celebration of this 20th anniversary of the campaign to promote girls’ education “Inkubito z’icyeza” is also an opportunity to reflect on the efforts to be made for the next 20 years to promote a generation of future educators who will work for a better future for the country.

“Rwanda is delighted to have been able to educate future parents, the future educators of the nation. It should be noted that we have girls and boys who are the parents of tomorrow. Let us celebrate this 20th anniversary and think about the next one that awaits us,” declared Jeannette Kagame.
“It is important that you are self-sufficient, that you have sufficient background, so that you can educate children with the abilities and mentality that we desire, children who will be able to help our country achieve Vision 2050,” she added.

The Secretary General of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), Louise Mushikiwabo, informed the young girls that the energy an individual puts into what they want to accomplish helps them achieve their goals. She also urged them to make good choices. Louise Mushikiwabo also urged them to promote their culture and to have their own unique character to distinguish themselves from others.
This 20th anniversary of the campaign to promote girls’ education “Inkubito z’icyeza” was organized under the theme “20 years of inspiring girls to excel”.

The “Inkubito z`icyeza” girls’ education campaign was launched by Rwanda’s First Lady, Ms. Jeannette Kagame, in 2005 to address gender disparities in education by encouraging and increasing girls’ enrollment, retention, and achievement.
