Rwanda: impactful achievements
Over the past seven years (2017-2024), the Rwandan government has made significant strides in the country’s socioeconomic development. The statistics speak for themselves, especially when viewed in a global and regional context.
The poverty rate has fallen from 39% to 27%. The extreme poverty rate is now 5%, down from 11% in 2017. This represents 1.5 million people lifted out of poverty, which is no small achievement.
According to the World Bank report dated June 2025, 837 million people in the world, or 10.5% of the population, live in poverty.

Today, we can confirm that Rwanda is not condemned to remain in poverty, as the Head of State, Paul Kagame, has often repeated.
Life expectancy is another indicator of the positive impact of government initiatives to promote the socioeconomic well-being of the Rwandan population. It is approximately 70 years. In sub-Saharan Africa, it does not exceed 62.3%.
“We are satisfied with our life expectancy rate, which has exceeded the above-mentioned average,” said Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente.
While acknowledging the commendable progress made, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of sustained efforts to ensure a high quality of life for all Rwandans.

He stressed the need for collective action among all stakeholders, including citizens, to advance the country’s bold ambitions. This requires a particular focus on expanding employment opportunities as a cornerstone of greater well-being.
The Prime Minister presents his achievements to parliamentarians three times a year by answering a specific question. In this case, the presentation by the coordinator of government action, Dr. Edouard Ngirente, focused on the government’s achievements focused on the well-being of the population.
