APR FC: An Ivorian signs for 2 years

Ivorian striker William Mel Togui has signed a two-year contract with APR FC. The Ivorian center-forward is expected in Kigali next week for his official presentation. He will strengthen the team’s attacking lineup.

This news was announced by the president of the APR club, Brigadier General Déo Rusanganwa. He revealed that William Mel Togui has already signed his contract. His plane ticket has already been sent by the club. He promised supporters that their new striker will arrive in Kigali next week.

“The Ivorian striker has already signed a two-year contract. We will have the opportunity to officially present him. I would tell our supporters that he is on his way to us,” Rusanganwa said.

APR FC was looking for a striker to strengthen its attacking lineup. The club’s management wanted to find a center forward to play alongside Burkinabe Djibril Ouattara and Ugandan Denis Omedi.

The arrival of William Mel Togui will provide a solution in the Rwandan champions’ attack. The Ivorian joined from Turkish club Ankara Keçiörengücü, playing in the Turkish second division.

William Mel Togui has experience in various championships in Africa and Europe. In Africa, he began his professional career in Ivory Coast. From 2013 to 2014, he played for Espoir de Koumassi and SC Gagnoa. William Mel Togui then headed to the Maghreb to the Moroccan championship where he wore the colors of the teams Difaa El Jadida, IZ Khémisset, RC Oued-Zem. He spent 3 seasons there (From 2014 to 2017).

With the Belgian club KV Mechelen, he won the Belgian Cup.

His performances attracted the attention of European clubs. In 2018, Togui signed with Belgian club KV Mechelen, with whom he won the Belgian Cup. He then joined Molenbeek in 2021. He then moved to try his luck in the Israeli league with Hapoel Jerusalem.

In 2023, William Mel Togui traveled to Turkey where he played for Tuzlaspor before joining Ankara Keçiörengücû. Having not received enough playing time, he was released by the club. The 28-year-old Ivorian William Togui hopes to relaunch his career in the African Champions League with APR FC.

With the Ivory Coast national team, William Mel Togui was selected 5 times by the “Elephants”.

The recruitment of striker William Togui by APR FC follows that of Burkinabe attacking midfielder Memel Dao.
