Day One of Kivu Beach Expo & Festival Opens With Joy as Residents Celebrate Their First Live Show With Igisupusupu

The inaugural day of the much-anticipated Kivu Beach Expo & Festival an event designed to boost tourism in Boneza Sector, Rutsiro District unfolded in a festive mood as residents cheered wildly during their first-ever live performance by the popular artist Igisupusupu.

Organized by Yirunga Ltd, a company specializing in expo management, in partnership with Rutsiro District, the festival kicked off on December 9, 2025, marking a historic moment for the region.

Yirunga Ltd’s Chief Executive Officer, Yves Iyaremye, visibly excited by the turnout and the uniqueness of the event, expressed heartfelt appreciation to national leadership, particularly President Paul Kagame, for creating opportunities for young innovators and maintaining security that allows communities to dream big and invest confidently.

He also praised district authorities and the people of Rutsiro for their warmth and enthusiastic participation.

He said: “What I’m witnessing here is extraordinary. With the enabling environment we have, I’m inspired to organize even more events in Rutsiro events that bring joy and generate benefits for everyone.”

Rutsiro District Mayor, Kayitesi Dative, thanked all institutions and partners that supported the event. She commended Yirunga Ltd for proving that great things are possible and for uplifting the spirit of the community through an unforgettable celebration.

She added:

“Our efforts in preparing this event have paid off. I thank Yirunga Ltd and the entire team, I thank Igisupusupu for the energy and joy he shared with us. This is the first time we experience something of this magnitude here, and we are committed to ensuring it becomes a regular tradition. We also appreciate all our partners for standing with us.”

Prices Slashed to Make the Festival Enjoyable for All

Food and beverage vendors drastically reduced their prices to ensure that the end-of-year festivities were enjoyable for everyone. A Petit Mitsing, usually sold at 3,000 RWF, dropped to 1,000 RWF in local boutiques. Hotels hosting Expo-related activities Palega Beach Inn, Amara Kivu Resort, among others cut their prices by 50%.

The discounts will continue at Kinunu Wonders Hotel, which is set to host canoeing competitions on Friday, December 12, 2025.

Activities will then move to Rushel Kivu Resort for Beach Volleyball, Swimming Competitions, tours of long-horned cattle swimming in the lake, and a dramatic price drop on brochettes from 13,000 RWF to 1,500 RWF on December 13, 2025.

Festival to Feature a Three-Day Boat Party

The Kivu Beach Expo & Festival will highlight a much-awaited Boat Party, set to run for three consecutive days from December 12–14, 2025, promising memorable entertainment on the waters of Lake Kivu.
